Programmers’ Day is an international professional day recognized in many technology companies and programming firms. It is celebrated on September 13th each year excepting leap years when it is celebrated on September 12th. This day is recognized in a number of countries across the globe and officially observed in Russia. The number 256th day of each year is celebrated as Programmers’ Day because it has distinct values. It can be represented with an eight-bit byte, a value well-known to programmers.
The particular day was proposed by Valentin Balt and Michael Cherviakov, employees of Parallel Technologies. As early as 2002 they tried to gather signatures for a petition to the Government of Russia to recognize the day as the official programmers’ day. International Programmers’ Day was launched in 2007 to honor programmers.
Computers, Technology and Software makes the modern world move but for every piece of clever software there are programmers behind the scenes solving problems with clever code, cloud security solutions and intense development projects. We need to spare a thought for them and the hard work they put in to see that everything works smoothly.
It is said- “The trouble with programmers is that you can never tell what a programmer is doing until it is too late”- it is true to quite an extent since their job is totally technical and one needs to be technically savvy to be able to understand the pressures they undergo to have everything functioning in the right order. The fact that the world today is totally technology driven cannot be forgotten and put on the back burner.
The programmers are constantly thinking about various up gradations along with technological inventions to move forward in the field of technology and keep pace with the world. This is the day to salute and show one’s gratitude towards the technology experts in one’s life and the role they play in shaping one’s career and life.
