Socialization is an integral part of child care and development. It is an important aspect because it develops the child’s skills of interaction, talking and also helps the kids learn to live with a group of people outside his/her family.
Keeping this in mind, the Management club of the BBA department organized a social welfare program with the Siliguri Bhawana Society (orphanage), at Darjeeling More, Siliguri on the 1st of September 2017, where around 15 students and 3 faculties associated with the club spent some time with the orphans in the center.
On the 1st of September, 2017, we headed out to spend some precious time with the children at Siliguri Bhawana Society with our packed goodie bags filled with surprises for them! We had a splendid afternoon at the Orphanage Home wherein upon entering, we were greeted with warm welcomes and wide smiles on the children’s faces! We gave a short introduction on who we are and why were there and immediately, we separated into groups to play some games and other fun activities like dancing and singing. When the song from popular Bollywood blockbuster was played the kids danced their hearts out.
They jumped and clap their hands in glee with each beat of the song. While some had picked the original steps of the dance, many opted to choreograph their own moves. The girls undoubtedly outshone the boys in the dance. The steps may have differed but what was common was the wide smiles and unbridled joy on their faces.
Throughout the time we spent with the children, we experienced and also gave love, and we came to understand the situation of the children who were abandoned and orphaned. It was a great feeling for the entire group to be able to interact with the children and it encouraged all of us to be positive role models in life. The students really understood how privileged they were of the blessings they have.
Truly, it was an eye-opening experience for all of us. Special thanks to the kind people at Siliguri Bhawana Society for giving us an opportunity to be with the children!
