It was a cold winter morning in February. Despite the frosty weather, the winter sun cascaded its warmth, engulfing the shivery feeling. The long-awaited Annual Sports Day at Inspiria was finally taking place. The two-day event befell on 10th and 11th February 2022. An initiative of the Department of Sports Management at Inspiria Knowledge Campus, the Annual Sports Day wasn’t just about sports. It carried the institution’s objective to help the students make the best from the sports activity, build confidence, and integrity. Amidst great excitement and thrill, the Annual Sports Day took place at the campus ground.
The Annual Sports Day rekindled the delirious vibe at the campus. The reporting time was 8:45 AM, the hours when the frosty air still lingered in the campus ambience. But as the excitement grew more, the cold had nothing to do but melt in the air. The inauguration started with a torch march and by singing the National Anthem. The seemingly mandatory ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official commencement of Annual Sports Day at Inspiria.
The campus air rang with the sound of cheering and clapping from the thrilled audience. The excitement reflected the Inspirians’ love and fascination towards sports and their longing for on-campus life with their peers.
The event had a range of fun-filled activities under these two major categories:
- Track & Field Activity.
- Team Sports.
The activity on Day 1 under Track & Field Activity included – 75 m Race, 150 m Race, 4 X 75 m Relay, 600 m Race, Three-legged Race. A huge number of participation from various departments was recorded since day 1. The fun games not only lifted the spirits of the audience, but it was obvious that the participants likewise enjoyed every bit of fun sports.
Though it was evident the students were keen about fun games, what added more thrill and excitement to the event was the participation of fresh faces in games and the joint participation from the faculty and non-teaching staff in the fun games. Track & Field Activity was followed by Team Sports of Volleyball Game, where the volleyball qualifiers performed at their utmost best. Day one of Inspiria Annual Sports day wrapped up with the selection of Volleyball Finalists for Day 2 or the finals. Day 1 concluded with great joy and excitement for the finals.
Day 2 started with thrill and vivacious energy. After briefing on the day’s agenda, the event began with fun sports. The first on the list was Tug of War between students and the faculty, in which the faculty members won the battle. Throwball was an exclusive fun activity created for girls. The most thrilling event of the day was the Volleyball Finals. After an intense Volleyball match, the champions from the Department of Sports Management bagged the Winners’ Trophy.
In hindsight, the Annual Sports Day contributed to Inspiria’s core objective to promote a healthy lifestyle, engage students through sports and physical activity, and faculty engagement. The response and engagement were overwhelming throughout. More than 150 participants competed in the event. What’s surprising was the unexpected number of participants in the fun games, which surpassed 100 including faculty participation.
Inspiria Annual Sports Day 2022 concluded with a prize distribution ceremony that took place at the Campus’ Open Air Amphitheatre. The winners were felicitated with trophies, medals, and certification for their well-deserved acclaim and recognition in sports. For the Inspirians, the event bestowed them with a spirit-lifting break, an opportunity to exhibit their sporting spirit, and a rejuvenation from stressful routines.
On a conclusive note, we would like to add that for Inspirians, sports is not just about physical activity or beating the opponent in a game. It is about teamwork, motivation, discipline, and integrity. And Inspirians are well aware that the benefits of sports surpass physical aspects.
At Inspiria, every learner is given an equal chance and opportunities to explore and expand their potential through various platforms, and “the sports arena” is one of them.
