Students of BBA in Hospital Management from Inspiria Knowledge Campus, Siliguri, went on an educational visit to CARE Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
The visit helped students connect what they learn in class with how a real hospital works. It gave them a chance to see hospital systems, technologies, and management in action.
Learning About Hospital Structure
CARE Hospital is a multi-specialty tertiary care hospital with around 300 beds, including ICUs, CCUs, and special wards.Students saw how the hospital layout helps doctors and staff work efficiently while keeping patients comfortable.
They learned that hospital design is more than just building walls — it’s about creating a safe and healing environment for patients and staff.
How Technology Makes OPD Work Better
In the Outpatient Department (OPD), students saw how technology helps in managing patient appointments.
CARE Hospital uses a Hospital Information System (HIS) that connects all departments. Patients can register online, through the mobile app, or at kiosks in the hospital.
This system reduces waiting time, avoids confusion, and improves patient experience.
Students realized how important IT systems and digital records are in running a hospital smoothly.
Inside the Operation Theatre
The visit to the Operation Theatre (OT) was one of the most exciting parts. The GM explained how the OTs are designed with modern safety and hygiene systems to prevent infections.
Students also learned about Robotic-Assisted Surgeries, which make surgeries safer and faster. These advanced machines help doctors perform operations with more accuracy and less pain for patients.
It showed students that the future of healthcare is technology-driven, and hospital managers must understand how to manage such advanced facilities.
Understanding Hospital Billing
The students were introduced to the In-Patient Billing System (IPBS). Every patient gets a Unique Hospital ID (UHID) that tracks all medical services used during their stay.
The billing system at CARE Hospital is fully digital, helping avoid mistakes and delays.
Students also learned how insurance claims are processed and how important it is to keep billing transparent for patient trust.
The Hospital’s Supply Chain
Students got a close look at the Centralised Purchase and Inventory Unit, which manages all medical supplies and medicines.
They saw how the system tracks items using barcodes and automatically reorders essentials before they run out.
This visit helped students understand that hospital logistics and inventory management are as important as patient care.
Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
CARE Hospital also uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make hospital operations smarter.
AI helps in predicting bed availability, planning staff schedules, and reducing waiting time for patients.
Students were inspired to see how data and technology can make healthcare more efficient and reliable.
Exploring Odisha’s Culture
Apart from hospital learning, the students also explored some beautiful places in Odisha — including the Jagannath Temple, Lingaraj Temple, Konark Beach, and Nandankanan Zoological Park.
These visits helped them learn about local culture, teamwork, and community spirit. It was a good balance of education and exploration, giving them memories beyond the classroom.
A Complete Learning Experience
The industry visit to CARE Hospital, Bhubaneswar, was a great learning experience.
Students saw how a hospital works as a complete system — combining management, technology, and empathy.
This visit, organized by Inspiria Knowledge Campus, showed the college’s focus on experiential learning and preparing students to become future-ready healthcare professionals.
It was truly a trip that inspired every student to think bigger and aim higher in their hospital management careers.
