Introduction

Recognized as one of West Bengal’s largest design hackathons, Design-o-thon is a flagship event under the Inspiria AD Festival. It was held on May 9, 2025, with active participation from students across departments and modes, both online and offline. The event was conducted under the strategic leadership of Mr. Atul Gupta, Managing Trustee of Inspiria Knowledge Campus. Design-o-thon wasn’t just a test of endurance but a platform for meaningful collaboration, creativity, and real-world design thinking.

Objective

The primary objective of Design-o-thon was to provide a transformative learning experience in UI/UX design, fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and real-world collaboration. By participating in this 24-hour hackathon, Inspria students and participants in general gained valuable insights into the fast-paced environment of professional design sprints. They were able to translate abstract concepts into practical UI/UX prototypes, addressing diverse user-centric challenges.

Throughout the event, they benefited from mentorship by industry experts and design professionals. This guidance not only enhanced their understanding of interface design, user journeys, and usability but also provided them with crucial feedback on their prototypes. Such interactions helped students refine their design thinking and develop solutions that are both innovative and user-friendly.

The Event

Over 24 hours, student participants translated abstract ideas into tangible UI/UX prototypes, addressing a variety of user-centric challenges. Throughout the event, industry mentors and design professionals were present to guide the teams, offering insights on interface design, user journeys, usability, and innovation. The hackathon format allowed students to experience the pressure and pace of professional design sprints, a valuable learning opportunity for anyone preparing to enter the design and tech industry.
