Empowering students to be successful architects for tomorrow.
With the blooming infrastructure and the zeal to gain knowledge and robust lessons, the students of the BID of Inspiria Knowledge Campus organized a guest lecture session with the distinguished Landscape Architect, Ms. Shruti Das, on “Architectural Landscape” on February 25, 2021.
The designing aspirants were eager to learn and gain robust knowledge and gained an insight into the world of art, design, and craft.
The objectives of the session were –
To inculcate knowledge to the students about the principle of landscape architecture-
For the design of any landscape, the right amount of scaling, grading, and proportion is necessary to bring about a natural and picturesque look while viewing a landscape.
Landscape architecture concepts are principles or methods used by designers and designing students to create aesthetically appealing, attractive, and pleasant environments. Landscape architecture principles include balance, order, recurrence, and cohesion.
Balance
Balance or proportion refers to the size of an object in relation to certain other things in the environment. It is essential to consider planting and concrete proportions to bring out the best at the table.
Order
Order in a landscape depends on the organization and proportion. With the help of either symmetrical or asymmetrical balance, students gained an insight into how to design a landscape and the importance of it from the session.
Repetition
The objective of landscape recurrence is to generate dependable and identifiable motifs and sequences. To accomplish this, landscape design concepts or attributes may well be duplicated throughout the area.
Cohesion
In landscape design, cohesion relates to the notion that everything is interconnected and functions together just to make a whole. This approach made the students feel interested in the whole approach of the lesson.
Taught the students about the different types of Landscape Design.Empowering students to be successful architects for tomorrow.
There is no doubt that the whole notion of landscape designing can be an aesthetic endeavor for the designing aspirants of the college. The world of designing itself has to be curated with a possible mixture of nuances to give it a proper shape and structure.
From the session that took place, the students gained an insight into different types of landscape designs such as tropical landscape, English Cottage Landscape, Japanese Landscape which ensured that no landscape is similar to the other. Every landscape is distinctive and that’s what makes it worthy.
How to develop design guidelines.
Design guidelines are a collection of principles for how to apply design guidelines to generate a favorable experience for users. These factors are being used by architects and designing students to evaluate how to apply principles such as seamlessness, comprehensibility, effectiveness, and consistency to develop attractive solutions that adequately meet users ’ expectations.
The session also taught the students how to develop the design guidelines. Some of the most effective and crucial points that the guest imparted to the students were to consider –
- The style includes creating brand logos and colors.
- To understand the layout of a design
- To include the UI components including buttons and menu.
- To understand the tone and font of a text.
- Accessibility.
- To understand the pattern of a design.
Taught the students how to develop conceptual plans and planning strategies.
Interior Designing students were provided with great knowledge and a comprehensive explanation regarding the development of conceptual plans and strategies. Students must understand that before curating a design, they need to consider certain fundamental aspects which will provide them to sort out a roadmap for better results.
Therefore, students must understand the key aspects behind designing or creating a design. Some of the essential factors for the students to understand and inculcate into their field of work are –
- Understanding the intention behind the design (Who and why are you designing for?)
- Who are the stakeholders involved?
- Understanding the goals for both the stakeholders and the designer
- What is the need for planning robust strategies and implementations?
- Understanding the need to sketch the idea before the actual creation.
- Undergoing thorough research and inspiration.
How GFC Drawings are prepared and what are the landscape drawings prepared in a landscape office.
The students also got an insight into the world of GFC drawings, also known as good for construction drawings. The students got to learn the significance of these types of drawings from the session which provides extreme detailing in creating dimensions and provides a plethora of graphical knowledge which can help an architect or a designer to design their works. They are primarily created for construction and incorporate minute detailing in the construction phase.
At the same time, the interior designing students also received an overview of the fundamental aspects of landscape drawings for office layout. These office landscapes offer unique and aesthetically appealing arrangements and designs made for the purpose of designing an office or any business organization. As mass and line are vital components for designing a landscape, the students got to learn how to design an item of furniture or place a desk or cubicle in an office setting. Alongside, they also learned how to place plants, make use of natural light and also use pleasing artwork to give light to the ambiance. However, the office landscape is not just confined to the close spaces but also got an insight into curating outdoor landscape architecture significantly.
How to develop planning strategies, grading plan, material palette, landscape detailing.
One of the most fundamental aspects that the ardent lovers of designing received from the learning session is to understand the necessities for designing and construction. One of the most fundamental aspects of the entire session lay stress on the importance of planning strategies. The guest intrinsically provided information regarding the importance of planning and implementing strategies before starting the actual plan. This will help the students to cut down their time into specificity.
Secondly, the young students also learned the importance of formulating a grading plan. The formulation of a grading plan includes a mixture of mechanical and analytical capabilities. A certified civil architect or designer is typically in charge of developing a grading plan. A building surveyor is the right person for the job because the individual is accustomed to digging deeper into the intricacies of this type of work.
When the grading operations surpass a certain volume of grading materials, a civil engineer is generally called in to develop the design. It is because an expert or designer understands precisely how much material must be eliminated and just how much should be refilled. This is typically factored into the equation while establishing the grading plan.
At the same time, the students also gained knowledge about developing colors in their designs with the help of material palettes. By choosing a theme and emphasizing the right color and choosing the appropriate material for the same, it was an outstanding and enlightening session.
The students also gained an insight into curating landscape detailing. The students also learned the fundamental aspects of landscape detailing – that is, understanding the structure, form, line, texture, and color before curating a design.
Few actual landscape projects and execution work were also shown in the session.
Lastly, after gaining such comprehensive knowledge into the field of design, the students were shown some of the state-of-the-art and aesthetically pleasing projects by the guest, along with various landscape detailing, office landscape designs which provided valuable information to the students and the ardent lovers of designing fell in love with their discipline even more.
