Interior Designing, as a discipline, provides a great opportunity to the students to shape and design an interior of any space which will look aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Not to forget the essence of a home or any space is incomplete without some great piece of art and architecture.

On 21st February, the students of interior designing of Inspiria Knowledge Campus visited an urban park. It was a great experience because the feeling of visiting an urban park evokes a sense of adolescence that is still present in the hearts of the young students. Industrial visits and urban park visits provide a piece of great knowledge and it is one of the most imperative approaches which imparts knowledge to the students, outside their classroom.

The objective of the overall visit was to –

Ensure that students grasp the idea of landscape architecture

The landscape architecture of an urban park is concerned with the design, construction, management, and preservation of both urban and natural environments. Due to their distinct set of skills, students will be able to collaborate to improve public health and the environment in all regions. Gardens, institutions, cityscapes, pathways, public squares, residences, and other neighborhood initiatives can be easily created and curated by them.

Students can create sophisticated designs with the additional landscape, vegetation, pathways, as well as other geographical features, as well as water management. At the same time, students will get a hold of knowing the most underlying layers which are needed to build these urban park projects for the utilization and enjoyment of the public, keeping in mind the various factors associated with it.

Guiding the students to prepare on-site case study reports.

In any architectural discipline, especially interior designs, the essence of craft is extremely distinctive and sophisticated. When students visit an urban park, it not only provides them with an opportunity to spend some time as a part of recreation but also knows and analyzes the reason behind the construction and development of a place.

Therefore, by analyzing the nuances of the construction of the urban park, the students will get an insight into real-life knowledge which will serve them exponentially for future endeavors.

Providing them with an insight into understanding the landscape illumination strategies

The understanding of these landscape illumination will provide the students with an insight to understand the world of design and craft the picture with their skills and capabilities.

We provided students with a comprehensive examination of three main illumination strategies which would be represented as a dynamic factor in both the early mornings and evening hours to offer the urban park a tactically distinct style: green trees and waterscape, tradition assimilated with advanced technology, and scenic night view.

Given the abundance of pedestrian walkways during the whole development, there had been a necessity to achieve an appropriate balance of lighting and shadow while adhering to safety protocols. All around the area, tree uplights, two-way barricades, and signal lamps were used to accentuate the flora, illuminate crosswalks, and create a distinctive projection on the edge of the water.

Provided knowledge of how to design and develop sites with relation to the existing condition.

The world of interior designing is incomplete without the presence of existing ‘plus points’. When the students grasped a detailed analysis of the development and construction of the urban park, there was no doubt that nothing could be constructed without the relation of the existing condition of the environment.

The students from the visit realized that it was imperative to understand the value of the preservation of the flora and vegetation of a place before constructing an urban park. With proper design, acknowledgment, and skills, students will be able to value nature and understand the need for sustainability by constructing and bringing a change in the environment of an area.

Teaching students how to manage water using low impact development

Low impact development prioritizes preservation including the use of domestic and natural sources to protect the quality of the water. This method adopts limited hydrological management to replicate the hydrological domain of watershed antecedent to industrialization by absorbing, purifying, conserving, dissipating, and restraining water nearby to its base.

Sustainable investments in infrastructure are one strategy that provides extra advantages while also improving community adaptability. At this present age, students will not only gain robust knowledge regarding the conservation of water but will also allow them to promote awareness in society and be responsible citizens of the future by ensuring a presence of sustainability.

Providing them adequate knowledge regarding grading a plan

In the world of interior designing and similar disciplines, nothing can be implemented into action without the presence of a plan or the inception of a plan into a paper. Similarly, during the visit to the urban park, we provided robust knowledge to the students regarding the grading of a plan, which will allow them to get a 3-dimensional picture of the urban park with contour lines which will help them to understand the terrain of the urban park.

We also provided them with adequate knowledge regarding the slope. For instance, we taught the students that if two consecutive contour lines are drawn far from each other, then the place is situated in a gentle slope and if the contour lines are drawn near to each other then the place is situated in a steep slope. Therefore, understanding the topography was imperative for them to get additional knowledge which was not only exciting but extremely enticing for them.

The amenities and spaces needed to design public parks

With the advent of urbanization, designing public parks for the utilization of community and public has been one of the most fundamental and positive aspects for any designer. From understanding the demands of the people and the basic amenities like a park or a community hall or sitting areas, everything is taken into consideration by ensuring that people living in a particular community can happily spend their recreational time.

There are somewhat vast expanses of urban green space which are situated in urbanized surroundings or on the periphery of town and serve vital recreation, economic, and cultural functions, all of which add to a better standard of living.

Urban parks can support a range of requirements and functions (resting, playing, sporting activities, infrastructure, social and entertainment hubs) and are often designed with indigenous vegetation, grassland, and appropriate shrubs and trees biodiversity for that location.

Gardens can also play a role in urban expansion by combining and supplementing the agricultural production ecosystems, and if properly administered, can make a significant contribution to urban emission reductions

Therefore, from the visit to the urban park, the students of Inspiria Knowledge Campus studying Interior Designing gained a robust knowledge into the world of art and design and got immensely motivated towards building something out of scratch.
