Darjeeling Winter Festival began on 4th of Jan 2015. This 7 days fest is joint initiative of the tourism department of the GTA and the state government.
Mr Bimal Gurung GTA chief and Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha (GJMM) supremo inaugurated the opening ceremony of the festival which was later followed by a welcome note by Mr D.B.Lepcha
The inaugural ceremony was concluded by the popular folk dance called the ‘dhaan naach’ by an artist of Teesta Rangit Sanskritik Toli which was further followed by a concluding speech by Mr Bimal Gurung.
Popular singers such as Nima rumba, Bipul chettri, Adrian Pradhan and bands like Pralaya, Mantra, Parichaya, Wafwot band, Still waters, US band will be giving live performances. The winners of the international hornbill festival Adam’s apple and Nightmare are also expected to delight the audience with their soulful performances.
The festival is great platform to promote Darjeeling and its vast diversified culture and traditions along with its serene and enchanting locations. It is also a chance for local talents to come up.
